ISSUES CONCERNING DEFENCE PERSONNEL REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

Dear Mr. Rahul Gandhi,
1.  We appreciate that you have started taking decisions  which were overdue from the Govt.
2.   Defence personnel have not been given their due justice for a long time. Ex Servicemen are facing large number of problems which have been projected to the Govt on numerous occasions with no positive outcome.  Govt has not even implemented the judgements of Supreme Court in letter and spirit. Certain demands relate to the serving defence personnel which directly affect the Ex-servicemen also.
3.   Our two recent letters dated 31 Dec 2013 and 03 Jan 2014 written to the Prime Minister and Defence Minister are enclosed for your perusal please.  May we request you, that with the same intensity of command as  demonstrated by you while taking other decisions, please ask your Govt to sanction the following immediately :-

(a)  One Rank One Pension (OROP).
(b) Enhancement of Minimum family Pension affecting widows of defence personnel.  The minimum family pension in respect of defence widows be enhanced from Rs 3500 to Rs 10000 per month.
(c)  Non functional Upgrade (NFU) to defence personnel which has already been granted to other Central Govt services.
(d) Third Carrier Progression to Sepoy.
(e)  Establishment of Ex servicemen Commission to be headed by maned by      Ex –servicemen.

4.   May we request you to for a meeting of our delegation of five Ex-servicemen at the earliest convenient date and time.

   With regards,
Maj Gen (Retd) Satbir Singh, SM
