Brig Sivasankar Vidyasagar's Excellent Effort to Veterans

Sivasankar Vidyasagar Yesterday at 10:04am · Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I keep getting requests from veterans of all ranks from Sep to Maj Gens on many issues affecting veterans. One such issue is pension arrears from Jan 2006 to 23 Sep 2012. I can understand your anxiety to know how much of arrears you will get. It is but natural. But what I can not understand is we forget about single ladies (widows) who number about 6 lakhs and majority of them are widows of JCOs, NCOs & OR. They live in villages mostly and do not have access to internet. They are totally cut off from rest of the world. They come to know many things through their relatives who are also veterans that such and a such benefit has been sanctioned. No body bothers to tell them how much is their benefit. Sir, We who are more fortunate living in metros, cities and big towns having access to most modern gadgets must take it upon ourselves as our righteous duty to educate / inform these unfortunate sisters. We must tell them what are they entitled to and why do they get anything less than their entitlement. I do not have a solution but can only think about reaching out to them. What do these widows in Villages have with them? Most of them have mobile phones. So we can reach out to them through bulk SMS. I can not do it sitting in Secunderabad. For that we need some veterans of any rank who can take upon responsibility of sending bulk SMS to widows in their areas of responsibility or influence. We need volunteers as firstly State Coordinator, Secondly Dist Coordinator, thirdly Tehsil Coordinator and lastly village coordinator where bulk of widows live. I am fortunate in that few JCOs/OR volunteered to don this role. For example we have a spirited veteran Sub Maj Sham Salaria for Punjab. We need such volunteers in all 29 states and 6 UT Territories. They can further select District co-ordinator and in turn the district co-oridnator can select tehsil co-ordinator. These are purely voluntary duties and only those veterans who can spare some time to do this noble work are requested to contact me. I am available 24 x 7. Your job is just to convey what I send to you as State Coordinator and you in turn send it to your district co-ordinator and he in turn is to send to his tehsil co-ordiantor who in turn send it to widows in villages under his area of influence or responsibility. Are you willing to help you sisters in the villages? regards, Brig CS Vidyasagar (Retd) 9493191380
