Seventh Pay Commission: News

Employees threaten indefinite stir The Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, including workers in the railways and defence services, has threatened to go on an indefinite strike from April 11. The workers are demanding, among other things, approval of their demand on the Seventh Pay Commission. The workers also demanded that the Union government should roll back its policy of privatisation of public sector units and that the move to engage contract workers should end. The protesting workers also alleged that the government was engaged in bringing about anti-worker labour policies and that the participatory pension programme should be abandoned by the government. — Special Correspondent
