FAMILY PENSION: IMPORTANT INFORMATION.🙏

1) PPO (Pension Pay Order) is the most important document to get Service or Family Pension. 

2) If wife's Name and Date of Birth (DOB) are correctly mentioned in the PPO of ESM, then it is called Jointly Notified PPO or JN-PPO. 

3) If there is a JN-PPO already available, then No separate PPO will be issued on widow's name, after demise of ESM. Same PPO will continue to be her PPO as well. 

4) To get Family Pension, Widow needs to have a JN-PPO or a PPO on her own Name. 

5) When ESM is alive, no separate PPO will be issued on wife's Name. However, after the death of ESM, the Widow have to apply to Records Office (RO) for a separate PPO on her own name, to get her Family Pension. 

6) If ESM applies for a JN-PPO, it may take 6 months to 1 year and in that period ESM will continue to get his pension. However, after the death of ESM, if there is NO JN-PPO, then his pension will stop. Now, the Widow will apply for her own PPO, which will take 2 yrs or more to start her family pension and during this period, she will NOT GET ANY PENSION and will face severe financial constraints. 

7) If ESM is having a JN-PPO and a joint pension account in Bank, then after his death, Bank will start Family Pension for the widow in the same account on the basis of the JN-PPO. Later bank will convert that joint account into a Single account on widow's Name. 

8) If there is no joint pension Bank account, then widow will have to open a separate Single Account on her name in the same branch and Bank will take a long time to start her pension in that account. 

9) THREE things YOU MUST ENSURE in your Lifetime to get Family Pension by your Wife after your death:-

(a) Your Pension account must be a Joint account in Bank. 

(b) You are having a JN-PPO, in which your wife's Name and Date of Birth are correctly mentioned. 

(c) In four documents your wife's Name and DOB are Correct and complete in DDMMYY or DDMMYYYY format. These four documents are:-

(i) PPO.

(ii) Pension Bank Account.

(iii) Wife's Adhaar Card.

(iv) Wife's PAN Card. 

10) In most ESM documents, wife's Name is NOT written or wriiten wrongly, DOB is not written or Age/Year is only written. To rectify such errors in Service Records, get a copy of Part-2 Order and then apply and get a corrigendum PPO, it takes 1-2 yrs or even more time. So, don't keep this job pending. 

11) All ESM are requested to check his PPO and other documents today. If there is any error or mismatch, please take corrective action immediately. 

12) If you want to rectify errors in your Adhaar Card or PAN Cards, please visit respective agencies or offices. If you want to change any information in Service Records, please apply to Records office, through ZSB.

13) It will take much lesser time and money to amend wrong Name and DOB in Adhaar and PAN Card, matching with Service Records. However, it will take a much longer time and costs much more to rectify errors in your Service Records. 

14) When you receive Corrigendum PPO, having your Wife's Name and DOB correctly written, then only you can be assured, that after your death, she will get her family pension without any problem.
