How to register on the AFD CSD portal

  Canteen and Shops Department (CSD) is a government agency that provides various consumer goods and services to  Indian Armed Forces personnel and their dependents.  CSD operates a network of cafeterias across the country where eligible customers can purchase products at subsidized prices. Items available in AFD CSD's water bottle category include cars, motorcycles, appliances, household items, and more. 

However, not all  items are  available in the dining hall. For some items, especially  high-value items, he requires prior approval from the CSD authorities before purchasing. These items are called AFD (Against Firm Demand) items. Customers wishing to purchase these products must apply to their CSD for a sanction letter specifying product details, price, retailer and  validity period. The customer must then  present this sanction letter to the authorized dealer and pay the amount required for delivery of the goods. 

To make this process easier and faster,  CSD has launched her web portal called Her AFD CSD where customers can apply for her AFD items online. The AFD-CSD Portal is a user-friendly and secure platform where ex-servicemen and their families can view and apply for his AFD items from the comfort of their home.

Step-by-step AFD CSD Registration:

Step 1: Open the Website

The first step is to open the website https://afd.csdindia.gov.in. The website’s home page will appear.

Step 3: Click on “Not a member yet? Register Now”

• Grocery/ Canteen card
• Pan card
• Mobile number for OTP verification

Step 4: Fill out the Registration Form

The fourth step is to fill out the registration form with your personal, service, and bank details. You also need to upload your photo and scanned copies of your discharge book, identity card, pension payment order, and other relevant documents. You need the following details ready for registration :

• Name: Your name as it appears on your grocery canteen card.
• Card ID: Your card ID that starts with GA/GB/GC/GE/GM on your grocery card.
• Employment Status: Whether you are serving or retired.
• Chip Number: The 16-digit chip number on the back of your canteen card or grocery bill.
• Organization: The name of your organization.
• Date of Birth: Your date of birth.
• Date of Enrollment /Commissioning: The date when you joined or were commissioned in the Defence forces.
• Date of Retirement: The date when you retired from the Defence forces.
• Entitlement Category: The category is based on your pay level.
• Pay Level: Your pay level as per your PPO.
• PPO/Discharge No. (Ex. Servicemen): If you are a retired Defence personnel, your PPO/Discharge number.
• PAN Number: Your PAN Number.
• Username: A unique username that does not have any special characters.
• Email: Your email address.
• Password: A secure password.
• Mobile Number: Your mobile number.
• Agree with Terms of Use and Privacy: Read and accept the terms and conditions.
• Captcha: Enter the characters shown on the screen.

 You need to enter your name, card ID, and chip number exactly the way they are printed on your grocery card/ canteen card. You also need to enter your mobile number and click on “Send OTP”. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number and you need to enter it in the extra column that pops up.

If a new user with the same username/ grocery card/ PAN number already exists, you will see an error screen. No user can have the same details like username, email, etc. If the error persists, you may contact the help desk.

If your date of enrolment/ commissioning is less than 5 years old, then you will not be entitled to buy any products. After completing the form, click on “Submit”. If the form is correctly filled, you will get a notification. You will not be able to log in right away. After submitting the form, the admin will verify your details and then grant you access. The verification process may take 3 to 5 days. Please be patient during this time. Once your registration is approved, you will be able to access the CSD AFD portal and shop for discounted products online.

Your login credentials will remain invalid until your registration is approved. If you try to login before that, you will see an error.

After logging in, you will be prompted to enter an OTP sent to your mobile number for verification. Enter the OTP and hit on “Verify”.

• Type in your registered email address to get a reset password link.
