1.  The Winter Session of Parliament began yesterday.  On the first day of the session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju asserted in the Rajya Sabha that the government is not averse to holding a discussion on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, electoral reforms and other issues.

2.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls for giving more opportunities to young lawmakers to present fresh perspective as Winter Session of Parliament begins.

3.  Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu on Monday confirmed that several flights approaching Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi recently reported incidents of GPS spoofing while approaching runway 10 of the airport.

4.  The Indian government has reportedly sent an order privately instructing all major smartphone makers to preload a non-deletable, state-owned cybersecurity application, 'Sanchar Saathi,' on every new device within 90 days.

5.  National Pollution Control Day is on 2nd December.  This day commemorates the victims of the 1984 Bhopal Gas tragedy.

6.  The government has issued directions for the pre-installation of the Sanchar Saathi App in mobile handsets to verify the genuineness of mobile handsets.

7.  The fourth edition of Kashi-Tamil Sangamam began yesterday in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath  jointly inaugurated the event, aimed at strengthening ties between North and South. 

8.  The Government has invited comments on the proposed Draft of the amendments to the Post Office Act, 2023. The proposed amendments seek to operationalize a modern, secure, interoperable and user-centric digital addressing ecosystem for India. Comments on the draft amendments can be sent through email till 31st of this month.

9.  Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan formally inaugurated the Saras Ajeevika Food Festival 2025 in New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the colors of the country’s culture reflects in its food.

10.  India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions in parts of Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Marathwada and Punjab.

1.  Reacting to media reports that the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved a proposal to change the names of Raj Bhavans and Raj Niwas across the country as Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas respectively, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday (30 November 2025) said a change in mindset was needed more than the change in names.

2.  Five Lakh Outsourced Telangana Govt Staff Face Months of Salary Dues. Workers go months without pay; protests rise across key government departments.

3.  The Supreme Court of India on Monday (December 1, 2025) took serious note of a plea that Anganwadi workers are being pushed into Booth Level Officer (BLO) work for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Tamil Nadu under the threat of imprisonment and loss of jobs.

4.  The Supreme Court on Monday (December 1, 2025) tasked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with cracking down on ‘digital arrest’ scammers and their associates, giving the agency a “free hand” to launch an anti-corruption probe into bankers involved in the opening of mule accounts linked to cybercrimes.

5.  The Supreme Court issued a show cause notice of contempt to the Odisha DGP for non-compliance with its earlier order in a motor accident claim dispute.

6.  National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at several locations in Jammu and  Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh as part of its investigations in Delhi car blast case. The NIA in a statement shared that a total of eight locations were searched in the districts of Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama and Awantipora  of Jammu and Kashmir and one location in Lucknow. 

7.  Department of Telecommunications, DoT has issued directions to major App-Based Communication Services to prevent the misuse of telecommunication identifiers and to safeguard the integrity and security of the telecom ecosystem. These include WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, Arattai, Sharechat, Josh, Jiochat and Signal.

1.  The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has lodged an official complaint against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, that he insulted Goddess Chamundadevi during the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

According to the complaint, Singh imitated on stage the divine form of a deity depicted in the Rishab Shetty starrer Kannada film Kantara – Chapter 1 and referred to Chamundi Daiva—revered by the Kotitulu community—as a “female ghost”.

2.  The Malayalam film industry has once again entered it's 'Mohanlal -wood' era as 'Drishyam 3', written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, has entered the Rs 350-crore club even before completing its shoot.

1.  Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, AVSM, NM assumed charge as the Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition on 28 Nov 2025. Commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1987, the VAdm is a Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering and MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies.

2.  The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 149th Course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) held at Khadakwasla on Sunday. The parade marked the culmination of three years of rigorous military training for 329 cadets, including trainees from friendly foreign countries.

3.  The Indian Army on Monday successfully test-fired a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile over the Bay of Bengal, demonstrating its long-range precision-strike capability.

4.  Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh visited the Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE), a Kanpur-based laboratory of DRDO, on 30 November 2025. 

5.   The United Kingdom and India have concluded the eighth edition of their flagship army exercise Ajeya Warrior, with senior officials on both sides presenting the event as evidence of a rapidly deepening defence partnership. Held at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan from 17 to 30 November, the exercise brought together 120 soldiers from the Indian Army’s 21st Battalion The Sikh Regiment and an equal number from A (Amboor) Company, 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles. 

6.  The Indian Army is recruiting women from the northeast and the Ladakh region as jawans, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (DCOAS) Lt Gen Rakesh Kapoor said, adding that their turnout has been impressive.

1.  India marked a major milestone on the global skills stage as the country concluded its debut participation at the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC) 2025 with an impressive 8th-place finish, among 29 participating nations. In its debut against the region’s leading skill ecosystems, India showcased remarkable discipline, innovation, and global-standard excellence across high-demand and emerging trades.

2.  India has granted Pakistan permission for a Pakistani aircraft carrying humanitarian aid for cyclone victims in Sri Lanka to use its airspace.  India also described as "fake" reports in the Pakistani media that India has not granted overflight facility to Pakistan to send aid to Sri Lanka.

3.  PM Modi on Monday (December 1, 2025) reached out to Bangladesh and promised “all possible support” to help in the recovery of the ailing former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Khaleda Zia, who has been in a critical condition for nearly a week at a Dhaka hospital.

*HOW A LIME STONE IS FORMED.* 

Limestone, sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), usually in the form of calcite or aragonite. It may contain considerable amounts of magnesium carbonate (dolomite) as well; minor constituents also commonly present include clay, iron carbonate, feldspar, pyrite, and quartz.

 It is formed by layers of small pieces of rock and stones pressed hard together. The stone forms in wet areas which mean it will also contain of shells and waste matter from organisms that live in water.

Burnt lime can be treated with water to provide hydrated lime which is calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] or a mixture of calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide [Mg(OH)2]. This product is called hydrated lime, slaked lime or builders lime. Both burnt and hydrated lime are used in aquaculture.
