ECHS : SOP FOR BILL PROCESSING

1. ECHS has been launched to provide comprehensive Medicare to all ESM in receipt of pension or disability pension, as also to his/her dependents, which include wife/husband,legitimate children and wholly dependent parents. The Scheme is also applicable to NOK’s of deceased pensioners who are drawing family/special family /liberalized family pension.
2. This document lays down guidelines for processing of bills pertaining to empanelled Hospitals/Nursing Homes/Diagnostic Centers wherein an ECHS beneficiary has been referred to for treatment, in case of non-availability of accommodation or required facility for treatment in the Service hospital.

ECHS QUERY A PHONE CALL AWAY

1. Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), since inception in 2003, is dedicated to healthcare and well being of Armed Forces Veterans. With a diverse beneficiary base of approximately 36 Lakh Veterans, spread across the country, an Endeavour is being made to resolve the medical care related queries, through a phone call. The ECHS will run a 24X7 helpline, which will provide simplified solutions to veterans on health care issues.
2. This will ensure that our veterans receive an optimum level of medical service, with better connectivity to health scheme services, from any part of the country. The helpline numbers are (Toll Number : 080-43004300) and (Toll free : 1800-103-8666) or you can also send query via SMS on (+919714794300) and through E-mail to contact@echs.gov.in. These services is being run by Health Care Info Exchange, a total health care service provider.

GRANT OF EX-SERVICEMEN (ESM) STATUS TO CADETS

1. It has been clarified by the Govt of India, Min of Def vide their letter No 12/1/2005/D(Res) dated 05 Sep 2011 that ex-cadet/disabled cadet who were boarded out on medical grounds do not have ex-servicemen status.
2. You are requested to disseminate the same at all levels.
