Ministry announces Rs 100-cr package
  • Union Tourism Minister Shripad Naik on Thursday announced a special ~100-crore package for Jammu and Kashmir to rebuild tourist infrastructure. The ministry said the state government would be advised to assess tourist amenities affected and specify funds required.
Special train from Katra
  • The Railways on Thursday ran a special train from Katra to Indore with 512 stranded passengers on board.
500 NIT students rescued by Leh admn
  • The Leh administration on Thursday evacuated 593 persons, including 500 students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar.
  • The rescued people reached Leh in the early hours on Thursday and were received by Leh Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh.
All routes to Vaishno Devi shrine opened
  • The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board reopened the lower track between Adhkuwari and Bhawan for the yatra on Thursday morning.
  • With this, all three tracks leading to the Vaishno Devi shrine have been reopened.
State opens J&K Bank account for donations
  • The state government on Thursday opened a bank account for receiving donations under the title of ‘Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund, J&K’.
  • Those interested could deposit their donations in any branch of J&K Bank in the following account no: 0110040100001275, IFSC code: JAKA0MOVING.
Navy commandos to join rescue ops
  • The Crisis Management Group at the Centre on Thursday asked for additional field hospitals of the Army, suction pumps from the Oil and Natural Gas Commission and laid out a task for the Navy to evacuate people marooned on either side of the Jhelum.
  • The Navy commandos, MARCOS, will perform a special task of charting a course through the floodwaters, which will allow motorised boats to move.
Fuel supply to Valley being replenished
  • The oil marketing companies are implementing a contingency plan to restore normalcy in petroleum supplies in the flood-affected areas of J&K at the earliest.
  • Alternative routes are being explored to expedite loads to the flood-affected areas. Over 50 loads of petrol and diesel and over 30 loads of LPG cylinders were dispatched to Kashmir from Kargil, Leh, Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Bahadurgarh in the last three days.
83 relief camps in Jammu: Div Com

  • The Jammu divisional administration has rescued and shifted about 23,000 people to safer places, besides setting up 83 relief camps.
