Delhi Govt. employees pay scale revised before election

Indian Military VeteransIn a move that has sparked political backlash, the NDA government on Monday approved a proposal of Delhi Government to revise the pay scales of Delhi Administration Subordinate Service (DASS).

"Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the proposal of Delhi Government to revise the pay scales of Delhi Administration Subordinate Service (DASS). Both the DASS and Steno cadre will be benefited by this decision," Principal Secretary (Services, Delhi government) Anindo Majumdar said.
Majumdar also said that as per the decision, pay scale of DASS Grade-II/Steno Grade-II has been revised from Rs 5000-8000 to Rs 5500-9000, adding that the decision will be effective notionally from January 1, 1996 and actually from December 12, 2006.
"Central government has also approved the grant of Non-Functional Scale of Rs. 8000-13500 to DASS Grade-I/Senior PA notionally from January 1, 1996 and actually from December 1, 2006," he said.
Delhi Poll Announced
Voting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2015 would be held in a single phase on February 7 with the counting of votes scheduled for February 10, Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath announced at a press conference held at the Nirvachan Sadan. Delhi has 70 Assembly seats.
Calling the decision a poll sop, Cong and Aam Aadmi Party have hit out at BJP for the timing of the measure. "They (BJP) don't have a good chance in Delhi. For the last 7 months, the government did nothing for Delhi. Earlier, AAP's government also failed. It is only a Congress government that has worked for delhi," a Congress leader said.

Commenting on the same, Ashutosh of AAP said, "On the eve of the elections, if you are making such announcements, it shows that you are jittery. You want to influence a section of the voters, but voters are very intelligent. They undertand things, so this not going to affect us much."

"They (BJP) didn't have courage in the last 6-7 months to announce elections. Now they are just trying to manage and manipulate things for themselves," he hit out.

Slamming other political parties for their comments, BJP's Sambit Patra said, "Why is the Congress so desperate if the common man's salary has been increased? If the BJP has worked in a way that the common man's salary has increased then why is the Congress so worried?"
