*All Veterans ,*
The recent leakage of sensitive info and intrusion of en int operatives in various whatsapp groups are a cause of concern .
The group comprises both veterans as well as serving officers & it is important to lay a few guidelines for ensuring cyber hygiene of the group.
*Few Do's and Dont's for a secure group envt are as under :-*
- [ ] Do not click on any unknown link being forwarded through the WhatsApp messages or normal messages.
- [ ] Do not talk about military matters to any person whom you have not met/ interacted with before.
- [ ] Save numbers only after positively iden the person who has contacted you.
- [ ] Do not visit banned websites.
- [ ] Do not fwd unverified messages.
- [ ] Don’t share your mobile No with anyone who hasn't been verified.
- [ ] Always prefer an authorised mobile service centre for repairs.
- [ ] After servicing of the mobile do a factory reset before use.
- [ ] Do not share any serving officers' or their family's contact details without first checking up with the said officer and the family.
- [ ] Sharing location details of units is strictly prohibited.
- [ ] Do not save any contacts with rank and unit details.
- [ ] Any change of contact number is requested to be intimated to the admin or in the group.
- [ ] Pl keep checking your contacts in mobile and on social media sites. Unfriend or delete contacts of unknown persons.
- [ ] Pls check for banned apps and uninstall especially them especially the likes of true caller.
- [ ] Avoid calling back on missed calls from unknown numbers. They would call back if its urgent.

The guidelines are holistic & there is always scope for improving upon them. The precautionary measures consolidated instructions applicable across the board & all are requested to abide by the same.
The group is an excellent platform for keeping our bond alive & it is our collective responsibility to maintain its cyber hygiene. Any addn/amendments to the above are most welcome.
Warm regards.
