Canteen facilities

Recently a letter issued by HQ K& K Area GPC dated 13.7.2022 happened to appear in the Whats App Group regarding withdrawal of existing  canteen facilities admissible to

the Rank of Hony Lt  Granted Sub Maj on retired list.

The reasons for reducing the existing facilities was found indicated that canteen facilities are authorised based on the Grade Pay level. Sub Maj granted to the rank of Hony Lt at at  present avail the status of that rank for ECHS and CSD previlage.

Earlier, Sub Maj, Hony Lt,Hony Capt and Major were remitting same contribution@ 27000 though their grade  Pay were different   

to become the member of ECHS. At that time Officers were authorised for private room in the empaned Hospital were as Sub to Hony Capt were authorised only Semi Private room. Later on the contribution got revised separate rate for JCOs OR and Officers. Now officers are authorised Private room and JCOs OR semi private room and General wards.

     Sub and Sub Maj when granted Hony Ranks of Lt and Capt they were placed in the Grade Groups of 5400 and 6100 respectively and their Pay were fixed in the pay band 15600-39100

Here  status of Hony Officers are allowed only JCOs status. 

It will be very clear that ditermination of status are not at all based on the grade pay in the Armed Force.

     The actual fact regarding grant of hony rank is based on the performance of outstanding and meritorious but restricted to percentage of vacancy earmarked for each occassion like Republic day and Independence day.

     JCOs recommended and placed in the selected list will be granted Hony Lt in active list and remaining will be granted Hony Lt on retirement. It is not non of the faults of JCOs and they cannot be blamed but it is only due to restricted authorised vacancy.

    When a Sub Maj retires from service his pension was fixed based on rank on which he held at the time of discharge.

     When the Hony Rank of Lt is granted to him on retirement from the next day of discharge his status  from next day after retirement he is eligible to use the rank as Hony Lt and Not Sub Maj.

    There is a very clear instructions on the use of Army ranks after retirement issued by Army HQ. Even after demise they will known as  Late Hony Lt  Xxxx  and Not Sub Maj.

     I there for earnestly request TSEWA to take up the case with appropriate authorities to cancel the above referred letter and allowed to avail the canteen facilities as per the existing policy.
