Bank Holidays in December 2022: Banks are going to remain closed for a total of 13 days in December 2022. The 13 days of bank holidays include weekend holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. All private and public banks in India remain closed on holidays. However, some banks observe local festivals and holidays and remain closed on that day in the state. December marks Christmas, the last day of the year and Guru Gobind Singh’s birthday, on which banks are closed.
RBI released the list
RBI has released the list of bank holidays for December. As per the guidelines, banks will remain closed on all public holidays with some regional holidays depending on the state. Customers would do well to check the list of holidays before visiting their nearest bank. So, that they do not have to face the hassle and waste of time while visiting the bank branch.

December 3 (Saturday) – St. Xavier’s Feast – Banks closed in Goa
December 4 (Sunday) – Holiday – Nationwide
December 10 (Saturday) – Second Saturday – Banks will remain closed across the country
December 11 (Sunday) – Holiday – Bank closed across the country
December 12 (Monday) – Pa-Tagan Nengminja Sangam – Bank closure in Meghalaya
December 18 (Sunday) – Holiday – Bank closed across the country
December 19 (Monday) – Goa Liberation Day – Bank closed in Goa
December 24 (Saturday) – Christmas and Fourth Saturday – Bank closed across the country
December 25 (Sunday) – Holiday – Bank closed across the country
December 26 (Monday) – Christmas, Lasung, Namsung – Bank closed in Mizoram, Sikkim, Meghalaya
December 29 (Thursday) – Birthday of Guru Gobind Singh Ji – Bank closed in Chandigarh
December 30 (Friday) – U Kiang Nangwah – Bank closed in Meghalaya
December 31 (Saturday) – New Year’s Eve – Bank closure in Mizoram
Can work online
Though banks will be closed for 13 days in December but customers should not worry as online internet banking services will be available as usual.
Share market will remain closed for 9 days in December
The stock market will not remain closed in December due to any festival. However, due to the weekend holidays, the stock markets are going to remain closed for 9 days.
