VACANCIES IN PARAMILITARY FORCES

Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) how many posts are vacant in each Paramilitary force in the country at present, details of vacancies in each forces, rank-wise;

(b) whether it is a fact that the recruitment process in forces has not resumed as it was, after the pandemic, the details of recruitment to different Paramilitary forces during last five years, year-wise;

(c) by when Government is planning to fill the existing vacancies; and

(d) whether Government has any plans to fill the vacancies in Paramilitary forces on war footing, if so, the details thereof?

ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI)

(a): Details of vacancies in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) & Assam Rifles (AR) as on 1.1.2022 Force-wise are at Annexure-A.

(b) to (d): No sir. Recruitment is an ongoing process and as and when vacancies arise, requisite measures as per the provisions of the recruitment rules are taken to fill up the same in a mission mode. The

Recruitment process continued during pandemic in 2020 and 2021. However, the pandemic caused some delay in the process. The details of recruitment made during last five years, year-wise are at Annexure-B.

The Government has taken inter alia the following further steps to fill up the vacancies expeditiously in CAPFs & AR :-

(i) Yearly recruitment for the posts of Constable (General Duty) for which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

(ii) For coordinating recruitment to General Duty posts, a Nodal Force each for recruitment in the rank of Constable (General Duty), Sub- Inspector (GD) and Assistant Commandant (General Duty) has been nominated on long term basis.

(iii) Directions issued to all Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles to undertake recruitment against vacant posts in Non- General Duty cadres in a time-bound manner.

(iv) Timely conducting meetings of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) for filling up of promotional vacancies.

(v) Time taken in the Medical Examination has been reduced to expedite the recruitment process.

(vi) Cut off marks for short listing of candidates for Constable/GD has been lowered in order to get sufficient candidates (especially in categories where shortfalls have been observed).
