Exservicemen are how to Stay Healthy After Retirement from Armed Forces

Taking care of your health is important at any age, but particularly as you get older. Though 80% of Armed Forces Personnel retires before attaining the age of 45 and it is a so young age in comparison with the average life expectancy 70 years of Indian Men. Here are some tips on how to stay healthy after retirement from the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force:

  • Maintain a healthy diet: A balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats is important for overall health. Avoid processed and fried foods as much as possible. Eating a balanced diet will help you maintain a healthy weight and reduce your risk of chronic diseases.
  • Stay physically active: Regular exercise is important for maintaining good health. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise on most days of the week. You can do activities like walking, swimming, cycling, yoga, or other exercises you enjoy.
  •  During your service in Army/navy/AF, physical  training was a duty and it Army/navy/AF, physical  training was a duty and it was an obligatory part of your daily task but after retirement you are free from doing so as a duty.  However, considering the better life, keep ourselves healthy enough, we must follow the minimum physical exercise for at least half an hour everyday.Get enough sleep: Good quality sleep is important for physical and mental health. Try to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Stick to a consistent sleep schedule and create a relaxing bedtime routine to help you fall asleep faster.
    • Manage stress: Retirement can be a major life change that can lead to stress. Find ways to manage stress, such as practicing relaxation techniques, spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies or activities you enjoy, or seeking professional help if needed. Resettlement in 2nd career is a prime issue for  Exservicemen.  So, plan well in advance to get settled in 2nd carrer
