IESL update on the action taken on OROP 2.

IESL update on the action taken on
OROP 2.

Dear Veterans,

IESL Team met the AG PS officers. Let me convey they are the most experienced, knowledgeable and have all the issues on their finger tips. There couldn't be a better team looking after the interests of Veterans.
IESL have filed a RTI raising various issues. The reply should come within this month. Another RTI to CGDA/ CDA Pensions is under preparation.

In IESL meeting with Gen VK Singh in the first week of April and the AG on 13 Apr IESL suggested three points.
1. The. One Man Judicial Committee report should be made public irrespective of it's implementation or not. We should know what is the result of Justice Reddy's interaction across the country and his recommendations.

2. A meeting must be ordered by the Hon' Raksha Mantri in which CGDA, Service Hqs and reps of Veteran organisations should be present. Nothing will move forward till this is done.
3. Basis of MSP needs clarification. We feel it should be a percentage of basic pay.

IESL reps will meet the veterans at JM. We do not feel it's right to target the govt. Isn't it correct to sit across the table and resolve anomalies. We know there are many. Till we get some inputs through our RTI it's futile raising issues. And we have sent a Memorandum to the Hon' RM reflecting these points.

I want to dispel the myth that IESL is linked to the govt in any way. Like a few others, IESL has been approved as one of the ESM organisations which has been recognised by the Govt. And IESL is the oldest, formed by Gens Cariappa and Thimayya and the only organisation approved by an Act of Parliament. Not one rupee has been  received from the govt since it's formation in 1963. The then govt gave 2000 Sq Yd plot at 9 Nyaya Marg, Chanakyapuri on lease in perpetuity. Aren't many  other organisations given land on lease in Delhi and across the country? The building was constructed with donations from National Defence Fund (Rs 2.50 lakh), British Govt (Rs 1.80 lakh), Tata and Birla Trusts (Rs 50000 each). Some other smaller donations. President VV Giri Rs 1000, Mysore Govt Rs 10000, Capt BD Naidu Bangalore Rs 1000, Escorts Rs 2500, others Rs 3459. This is displayed on a plaque. So please refrain from calling IESL a govt sponsored organisation. Because of our antecedents and confidence we reach out to various officers. We are not only concerned about the anomalies in OROP but we have had fruitful discussions on number of issues with the AG, DG D,C &W, DG Resettlement, MD ECHS, MD Manpower Placement Cell, Dir DIAV, Secy KSB and of course Gen VK Singh. These will be given out in the next day or two.  We will seek views of as many veterans on the issues we've discussed with these officers. I request these be circulated in as many groups as possible so that we get a good response in terms of ideas and suggestions. And all of you will see that it's a completely new initiative and the Service Hqs have appreciated the new line of thinking.
Besides  OROP, ECHS and CSD, we would like to work in the areas in which we have vast opportunities.

Jai Hind

President IESL
New Delhi.
