Types of ex-military personnel and government regulations that apply to them – an overview


 According to his latest DOP&T guidelines, ex-servicemen can be categorized into different groups based on  date of discharge from the Indian Armed Forces  and other aspects. Based on this classification, different rules and benefits/restrictions apply. Therefore, we need to know these categories of ex-soldiers.

 The broad categories of ex-military personnel are:

 (i) Discharged on or before June 30, 1968: – Served in any rank (combatant or otherwise) in the Union Armed Forces, other than discharged or dismissed for misconduct or inefficiency; A person who was discharged from the military by method.  

 (ii) He was discharged from the military between July 1, 1968 and June 30, 1979 (inclusive): â of any rank in the Union Army (whether combatant or not); A person who has worked continuously in (regardless of) If you are dismissed within six months of certification and are subsequently dismissed for misconduct or inefficiency or otherwise.

 (iii) Persons discharged from the military between July 1, 1979 and June 30, 1987 (inclusive): â Any rank in the Union Armed Forces (whether or not combatant); A person who has worked continuously in If the dismissal is due to a reason other than one's own request, or if the dismissal is due to misconduct or inefficiency, the employee has worked within six months after the recognition, and if the dismissal is due to one's own request, the employee has worked for more than five years. 

  (iv) Persons discharged from service on or after 1 July 2087: serving in any rank (whether combatant or not) in the Indian Union Armed Forces and receiving pension from the National Defense Service on account of appropriation or  dismissal or retirement; People who have been discharged/retired from the military. Dismissal for  misconduct or inefficiency  after fulfilling specific terms of a remuneration agreement. However, this does not apply if the request is made by the individual.

 (v) Personnel of the Territorial Army (TA) belonging to the following categories: - namely, pensioners for continuous physical service; Persons with disabilities resulting from military service. Gallantry Award Winner He retired  after November 15, 1986.

 (vi)  Army Postal Service (APS) personnel: - who is a member of the regular armed forces and has retired from that service (i.e. directly from the Army Postal Service itself without recourse to the P&T department) and is in receipt of a pension; or I am a pensioner. Persons who have been discharged from military service due to medical reasons arising from military service or circumstances beyond the control of the military member and who are receiving a medical or other disability pension are also included in the definition of ex-military member effective July 19, 1989. included. 

 (vii) Recruits who have been medically discharged/retired and granted medical/disability pensions fall within the definition of ex-combatants. 

Note: Under Army Regulation 13(3)(iii(v)), individuals who were  discharged before July 1987 because their ``military service was no longer required'' are eligible for the ``veteran'' status. There are no qualifications. However, those who are discharged from the Army after July 1987 on the grounds that there is no longer a need for military service under Army Regulation 13(3)(iii(v)) will receive ex-serviceman status when receiving their pension. have the right.

 ** An individual's eligibility for ex-military status is determined by the definition in effect at the time of  discharge and is not  affected by  changes in the definition after discharge.

 How to get information of an ex-serviceman via his RTI from Ministry of Defense Veterans Organization/Department of Defense:-

 Applicants can apply through online RTI portal or offline application on  plain paper with proper disclosure of their identity and for defensive security reasons, Adhar Card/PAN Card/PPO A copy of the /Discharge Book must be attached. No identification is required for online application.

 (2) Every application for  information shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rs.10/- in cash or by direct debit to the account of the Head of Government or by bank draft. 

(3) If you decide to provide the information, an additional fee equal to the cost of providing the information will be charged by cash, direct debit or bank check as follows: 2 rupees for each preparation or copy (A-4 or A-3 format), actual cost or cost  of copying in larger paper, actual cost or price of sample or examination of model and  records,  first free 1 hour, then 15 minutes. (or fraction thereof) will be charged at Rs. 

(4) Fees for providing information in print or  electronic format will be charged in the following amounts: For information provided on disks or floppy disks: For information provided in printed form at a fixed price  for publication, Rs.50 per disk or floppy disk. 

(5) After receiving the application, the information will be provided as soon as possible, but in any case he will be informed of the refusal within 30 days.
