The Department of Veterans Affairs sent a letter to ECHS asking for service improvements.

Problems can arise within any organization, and ECHS is no exception. Everyone needs better service. Since its establishment, ECHS has improved to provide better health services to its beneficiaries. However, there are some areas that need improvement. NEXCC reached out to VA DTE to take necessary steps to make improvements. The contents of the letter are reproduced here.

REPRESENTATION I/RIO NATIONAL EX-SERVICEMEN CO-ORDINATION COMMITTEE REGARDING SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT IN ECHS

1.         Annexed herewith please find a copy of representation dated 23 Apr 24 received from National Ex-Servicemen Co-ordination Committee regarding suggestions for improvement in ECHS (already addressed to 0/o the MD, Central Organisation ECHS).


2.    The issues highlighted by the committee are as appended below:-

  • Difficulties are being faced by Veterans on admission at Empanelment Hospitals due to shortage of Beds.
  • Hospitals are charging extra money from Veterans in the name of quality treatment in some procedures (knee, Eye lens & others). They are compelling them to sign a MoU at the lira:: 1).1 admission for better treatment.
  • Aakash Healthcare Super Specialty Hospital Hospital Dwarka, Delhi had charged extra amount (i.e. Rs. 77,983.35/-) from Shrimati Shakuntala Devi wife of Late Ex-MWO Shri Dale Ram Bhardwaj for providing some material which is not covered under ECHS while she was admitted in the hospital from 11 Dec 23 to 30 Dec 23. Matter was reported to RC ECHS, Delhi Cantt through E-mail in Feb 24. Reply from RC ECHS to individual is still awaited.
  • Delay in sanction of nrnnPr medicine/injection by authorities in the case of 18 year old son of Hay Bhoia wt iia who was admitted at Medeor Hospital, Sector-12, Dwarka, New Delhi. The matter was referred to MD, ECHS by the association in AFA meeting held on 30 Sep 23 at AF Auditorium, Subroto Park.

3.     It is, therefore, requested that the issues/suggestions brought out in subject representation be examined/looked after in the interest of veterans. The views of the Central Organisation ECHS on the subject and steps being taken in favour of veterans be articulated to this HQ as well please.
