Veterans Should Know the CSD  Profit % on Grocery and Liquor Items

Grocery and liquor items we usually purchased from CSD is much cheaper than the open market price of the products. But CSD also retains a certain percentage of margin as profit to maintain the organization.

You might have basic concept of the CSD operations in multiple hierarchies  from the top controlling HQ to URC.  The profit is calculated and imposed at two levels  first one is at CSD HQ level and the second one is at URC level.  Price of each and every items sold at URC is fixed along with certain % of profit which is calculated at CSD HQ and URC both levels.

Disposal of CSD profit at URC level is a matter of unit level organizational decision.  Mostly it has been seen that the major portion shared with the Officers Mess for mess maintenance and to meet other expenses. A part of this profit is shared with welfare organizations of the military station/unit.  Is any percentage of CSD profit shared with NCOs/ OR Mess ?

The profit percentage on various categories of Grocery items are as mentioned in this table.
