Types of Family Pensions
1. There are basically 3 types of Family Pension i.e. Ordinary Family Pension (OFP) at Enhanced rate or Normal Rate, Special Family Pension (SFP) and Liberalised Family Pension (LFP).
2. Ordinary Family Pension (OFP) at Enhanced rate in case of Death of Serving Person while in Service but Death is not Attributable to Service. Family pension @ 50% of last pay( Last Emolument) of deceased serving person i.e. Basic Pay+ MSP+ X Gp Pay+ Classification pay +Prevailing DA for 10 years from date of death of serving person.
3. Ordinary Family Pension(OFP) at Enhanced rate in case of Death of Service Pensioner. Family pension will be equivalent to last service pension of deceased pensioner + Prevailing DA for 7 years from date of death of service pensioner or till deceased pensioner (retired on or after 13 May 1998) would have completed 67 years of age whichever is earlier. In case of pensioner retired before 13 May 1998, age limit for enhanced rate of family pension will be 65 years.
4. Ordinary Family Pension (OFP) at Normal Rate. After exhausting of all the above conditions or death of service pensioner after his age of 67/65 years (as applicable as mentioned above) family pension @60 % of last service pension of deceased pensioner +DA will be applicable as ordinary family pension at normal rate.
5. Disability pension and age related additional service pension of deceased service pensioner will cease from the next day of date of death of service pensioner. Additional pension @20%, 30%, 40% , 50% and 100%+applicable DA will add to the family pension on completion of her own age as family pensioner i.e. 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100 years of age respectively.
6. Special Family Pension (SFP). In case death of serving person while in service is attributable to service, special family pension @ 60% of last pay emolument of deceased serving person +Prevailing DA is payable for whole life. Special family pension is granted to even remarried widow with conditions that she would support other dependent family members of deceased serving person. Otherwise, Special Family Pension will be divided in ratio as per pension rules.
7. Liberalised Family Pension (LFP). It is granted to Next of Kin of serving person of Armed Forces in case of death of serving person in acts of Violence/ attack by terrorists, anti social elements, enemy action in international war and action during deployment with a peace keeping mission abroad, border skirmishes etc. Liberalised Family Pension is granted @100% of last reckonable emolument +DA for whole life and even to remarried widow with conditions that she would support dependent family members of the deceased serving person. Otherwise, Liberalised Family Pension will be divided in ratio as per pension rules.
8.Revision of all types of family pension will be applicable as per CPC and OROP revision.
