AS RECEIVED FROM A VETERAN

This post is a live example as to how we all are duped by DISCOUNTED PRICES in CSD.
1. I wanted to buy a RO and like a good fauji went to CSD on 19 Apr 16, saw KENT RO SUPER PLUS. The MRP is 18000/- and CSD rates 10,658/-. It looked like a good buy.....
2. However, I decided to do some internet research on ROs and compare with other products. However, I was surprised to find that the Kent product (Kent super plus) is not even listed on the Kent website.....!!!
3. Totally surprised I called the Kent distributor in Bhopal and asked for the product. He replied " wo to aapko kewal CSD me milega. Made only for CSD". I asked what is so special about it? .......and the answer stumped me.....
THE PRODUCT DOES NOT HAVE UV FILTER!!!!.....the most common feature in ROs....
4. I have many more examples wherein you can yourself check the inferior quality of goods in CSD. Sister of a friend working in a company revealed that batches of products which fail in quality tests are despatched to CSD as the stock will be sold in any case. This includes, goods with short/ less weight....short life time , models of items which are obsolete in open market etc.
5. My advice to all.....KINDLY DO NOT BLINDLY BUY FROM CSD. PLEASE RESEARCH.....as such items cannot be bought every year.....companies know what doesnt sell in market ....will be lapped up in CSD...

I agree with you 100%. Recently I had to buy some of the International Suitcases. This was costing around Rs. 5900 to Rs 6500 depending on whether it is a two wheeler or four wheeler. As I had to buy five of them I went to find out the market price.
At a shop on Brigade Road, a distance of 600 meters from CSD, I got four wheelers for a quoted price of Rs. 4000 +. By some bargaining and increasing the number of pieces I was able to get these for Rs. 2900 a piece. I bought five of them - different colours. Size was same International size.
It is time we get rid of the CSD syndrome . As we have always believed CSD Purchases are cheaper , it could be further than the truth as the material we get is after Quantitative Discount + You know what I mean. What with the Super stores by various agencies and Whole sale stores coming up the charm of CSD is on the wane. Your advice is most relevant.
