    CSD NEWS

Sir,                                                                  1. HQ Southern Command have issued directions to all concerned to close over 25 CSDs having Str of less than 100 troops. They are Mainly NCC Run CSDs in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Kerala etc .Besides Serving Troops in NCC Units a large number CSD Card holders amongst ESM ie over 50,000 are dependant on these CSDs.Since no news is available about alternate arrangements the affected CSD card holders are upset, disturbed, and are demoralised .                                                2. On hearing the above orders we requested all concerned including the QMG  to make alternate arrangements before closing these CSDs. Till date No written response is received from any body. However the General Secretary of IESL HQ Delhi conveyed on phone that QMG is out on tour and his staff Officer who is  dealing with the subject rang him up and conveyed that these NCC run CSDs will not be closed till alternate arrangements are made. We strongly believe and hope that Military Authorities will make alternate arrangements before closing these CSDs.                                         3. With a positive hope, We request the Military Authorities once again  to make alternate arrangements and to open ESM CSDs in these respective places,at least , where the Str of ESM CSD Card holders are more than 1000.(One thousand)              4. In many places the existing other CSDs in the respective area are located 40 to 80 km away and they are already having administrative problems due to unmanageable Str and inadequate supply of CSD Stores. Any proposal to merge the affected str with any of these existing CSDs will agravate the problems further. As a result affected ESM and their families will face undue harassments .                                                 5. As a Welfare to the Vetaran and to their dependants it is requested that alternate arrangements in the respective Stns be made for opening ESM CSDs in case closing these NCC run CSDs are inevitable...                                                with warm regards,

    1. One way the closure of CSD canteens run by NCC units is the withdrawal of main welfare of veteran soldiers. They have been serving since decades and this sudden notice of policy makers decision has made us distressed.
