KSB, RSB, ZSB: Discover the pillars of ESM and family ESM-ECKE-KSB-RSB-ZSB If you are an ex-soldier or a family member, you may have heard of KSB, RSB and ZSB. But do you know what they are and what they do for you? In this article, we  introduce  three charitable organizations dedicated to providing care and support to you and your family. 

What are KSB, RSB and ZSB? 

 KSB, RSB and ZSB are  acronyms for Kendriya Sainik Board, Rajya Sainik Board and Zila Sainik Board respectively. These are  welfare institutions for ex-combatants and their families in India. They report directly to the Ministry of Defense and work together to provide a range of benefits and services to ex-servicemen, their widows and their dependents.

 What is the history and structure of Kendriya Sainik Board? 

Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) is a national welfare institution for ex-servicemen and their families in India. It is an attached department of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) under the Ministry of Defence. At the top is Her Highness Raksha Mantri (Minister of Defence) as the President. 

The Kendriya Sainik Board was established in 1919 as the Indian Soldiers' Board to advise on matters affecting the interests of serving, discharged and deceased Indian soldiers and their dependents. It was re-established in 1944 to include the Navy and  Air Force and was renamed  the Indian Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen Commission. After independence, it remained under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense and was renamed  Kendriya Sainik Board in 1975. 

The Kendriya Sainik Board has 46 members including Chief Ministers/Lieutenant Governors of various States/UTs, Members of Parliament, Service Secretaries, Government Employees and Ex-Servicemen. The KSB Secretariat is headed by an active-duty officer who is a Brigadier General or equivalent naval/air force officer.   

What are the features and services of the Kendriya SAINIK Board? 

The Board of Directors of Kendriya Sainik  is responsible for formulating and implementing policies and plans for the resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents . It also provides guidance and guidance to  Rajya Sainik Committees and Zilla Sainik Committees at the state and district levels. In addition, ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents are financially supported and provided with subsidies for various purposes such as education, medical care, marriage, home repairs, funerals, etc. 

 The Kendriya Sainik Board also organizes and celebrates various functions and events  related to the welfare and honor of ex-servicemen and their families, such as  Armed Forces Flag Day, Veterans Day,  Veer Nari Sammelan, etc. 

Records and data of former soldiers are also kept. Identification cards and certificates will be issued to individuals and their relatives. them.

What is the history and structure of RAJYA SAINIK Board?

 Rajya Sainik Board (RSB) is a government welfare body for ex-servicemen and their families in India. It is under the overall direction and direction of the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB), headed by the Chief Minister/Governor/UT as its Chairman.

 The Rajya Sainik Board was established in 1975 along with the KSB and the Zilla Sainik Board to take care of the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families at the state and district levels. The Rajya Sainik Board consists of 15 to 25 members, including state ministers, parliamentarians, government officials and ex-servicemen.

 The Rajya Sainik Board is managed by the Department of Sainik Welfare (DSW) headed by the Secretary, who at all times is  the Director of the Rajya Sainik Board.  DSW is a state-level department concerned with the resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.

 What are the features and services of RAJYA SAINIK board? 

The Rajya Sainik Committee is responsible for implementing the KSB's policies and programs regarding resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents in the state. In addition, ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents are financially supported and provided with subsidies for various purposes such as education, medical care, marriage, home repairs, funerals, etc. 

 Sainik Welfare Department/Raja Sainik Board/UT is a state authority responsible for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. They oversee the board of Zilla Sainiks, help ex-servicemen and widows find jobs under reservation provisions, provide  various benefits and services, and promote the armed forces in the country. 


 What is the history and composition of the ZILA SAINIK Board of Directors? 

Zila Sainik Board (ZSB) is a district-level welfare board for ex-servicemen and their families in India. It is under the overall command and control of the KSB and  RSB and is headed by the District Collector/Magistrate as the Chairman.

 The Zilla Sainik Committee was established in 1975 along with the KSB and the Rajya Sainik Committee to take care of the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families at the district level. Zilla Sainik's board of directors consists of nine to 15 members, including district officials, government officials and ex-combatants. 

The Zilla Sainik Committee is headed by a Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer (ZSWO) who is a retired officer of the rank of Captain or equivalent in the Navy/Air Force. ZSWOs are district-level officials responsible for the resettlement and welfare of ex-combatants and their families.

 What are the functions and services of the ZILA SAINIK Board?

The ZILA SAINIK Board is a joint body of the Kendriya Sainik Board and the Rajya Sainik Board for the resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents in the district. Responsible for implementing the Commission's policies and plans. It also provides financial assistance and grants to ex-servicemen, widows, and their dependents for a variety of purposes, including education, medical care, marriage, home improvement, and funerals.

The Zila Sainik Boards (ZSBs) are the district-level agencies that provide various welfare services to the Ex-Servicemen and their families. They register and issue identity cards to them, and help them with their resettlement, medical, legal, pension, and canteen issues. They also inform them about the various welfare schemes and benefits offered by the government and other agencies and assist them in availing them. They also organize and participate in various welfare, patriotic, and social activities and programs for them, such as rallies, camps, events, flag hoisting, wreath laying, blood donation, tree plantation, etc.

They also coordinate with the local civil and military authorities, NGOs, and other agencies for their welfare, and represent their grievances and problems to the higher authorities, such as the RSBs, the KSB, the MoD, etc.

CONCLUSION

KSB, RSB, and ZSB are the welfare agencies for Ex-Servicemen and their families in India. They work in coordination with each other to provide various benefits and services to ex-servicemen, widows, and their dependents. They also show respect and gratitude to Ex-Servicemen and their families for their service to the nation. They are the pillars of support and guidance for the Ex-Servicemen and their families. They are the guardians of the Ex-Servicemen’s welfare.
