WELFARE ACTIVITIES IESL AND AFFILIATED STATE/UT LEAGUES

1.         Ever since raising IESL has been vigorously pursuing activities in consonance with the aims and objectives of the Founder Fathers. Apart from the coordinated activities at the HQ level we have our State/UT Leagues involved in a large number of such activities. Details of some of these are as under:-

(a)        Gujarat Ex-Services League- The League is engaged in number of welfare activities like Blood Donation, Dental Check, Medical Check and Blood Grouping Camps, Assistance To Widows and Deserving Wards of Ex-Servicemen by way of Scholarships.    

(b)        Haryana Ex-Services League- One of the most significant activities of the League has been performance of the outsourced duties to HESL assigned by Haryana State Electricity Board. This pilot project undertaken by the League has resulted in gainful employment by Defence Veterans of the State. To date almost 20000 Defence Veterans have been absorbed in these duties, ensuring a respectable retired life with employment availability in the vicinity of their place of residence. As a result of the successful implementation of this project, a number of our other State/UT leagues have also evinced interest and are in the process of getting such projects allotted by their respective State/UT Govts, expertise for which will be provided by HESL based on their experience. Successful implementation of this project also resulted in Haryana Govt allotting some other outsourced duties to HESL i.e. census of BPL (Below Poverty Line), Animal Husbandry count etc.  The League is regularly involved in the conduct of periodic Blood Donation Camps, Medical Camps and rallies wherein Assistance (Education, War Widows, Kanyadaan, Diffrently Abled Defence Veterans and their wards.)

(c)        H.P Ex-Services League- The League is running a Training Academy for aspirants for the Armed Forces at UNA.
(d)       J&K Ex-Services League- Major activity of the League is the establishment of Housing Colonies for Defence Veterans i.e. Rajinder Vihar in Samba and Kargil Vihar in Jammu. In addition the League also runs Fauji Public School in Samba wherein approx 500 children are educated. The League has also been interested in Health and Welfare Programmes for women and children. A major Environment Protection Project was also undertaken by the League. A Cooperative Vanaspati Manufacturing Project with a turnover of approx 40 crores is being run by the League.

(e)        Kerala Ex-Services League- The League apart from its routine activities is also running Sainik Public Wandoor wherein children of Defence Veterans are provided quality education.

(f)        Maharashtra Ex-Services League- Mahrashtra ESL has a major contribution by way of running a Sainik School at Amboli which imparts quality education to children and trains them to join the Armed Forces with a bias towards NDA examination. Maharashtra ESL is also running a Cooperative Bank.

(g)        Rajasthan Ex-Services League- The League is involved in a Housing Colony at Churu.

(h)        W.B Ex-Services League- The League assists Ex-Servicemen in Suitable Placements.
2.         The above list is not comprehensive but gives out details of Major Activities of our Affiliated State/UT Leagues. All Leagues however, are continuously striving to provide assistance/facilities to Defence Veterans their widows and dependents by way of stipends and grants.
