Supreme Court posts plea on OROP for final hearing

The bench is hearing a contempt petition filed by retired Major General S P S Vains on the issue and had made the Defence Ministry a party to the dispute. NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today posted for final hearing a plea seeking implementation of One Rank- One Pension (OROP) scheme for retired armed forces personnel, even as the Centre asserted it has already been implemented. "Heard. Pleadings are complete. Post for final hearing," a bench comprising Justices T S Thakur and V Gopala Gowda said. The bench did not allow a submission for urgent hearing after the government counsel said that OROP has been implemented. The court, in July this year, had given six weeks to the government to comply with its 2008 judgment ordering implementation of the OROP scheme. The bench is hearing a contempt petition filed by retired Major General S P S Vains on the issue and had made the Defence Ministry a party to the dispute.
