Dear Veterans,
Cmde Supradeepan, Head of NAVPEN, Mumbai has sent me the following WhatsApp (WA) message for the naval Ex-Servicemen and widows. All are requested to kindly take action to ensure the widows get their family pension once the husband passes away.
The three points must be ensured even by Ex-Servicemen of Army and Navy : -
1. Wife's name should be endorsed in the PPO. The name in PPO must match with that in the bank records i.e account.
2. The pensioner must have joint account with his wife in the pension paying bank.
3. The pensioner must immediately get date of birth of his wife by attaching a document like birth certificate, DO Part II of unit at the time of marriage or Matric certificate or ECHS card or Aadhaar Card etc. The application for endorsing date of birth of wife with supporting document of date of birth must be sent to the Record Office immediately.
warm regards,
Brig CS Vidyasagar (Retd)
*MOST IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR NAVAL VETERANS*
Documentation is a very important activity for all pensioners and we are duty bound to ensure that it is done correctly. A few points are enumerated below....
1. Pension will be paid to the spouse of Pensioner only if her name and DOB is mentioned correctly in PPO and is matching with name & DOB in the Bank records.
2. The Spouse Name and spouse DOB should match in following four documents:-
*PPO
*Pension Bank Account
*Wife's Aadhar Card
*Wife's PAN Card
3. *JOINT ACCOUNT* : Pensioner must have a Joint account with the Family Pensioner (spouse/daughter etc). If not, please convert it into a joint account immediately.
4. Please keep your Original and Corrigendum PPOs safe. It is the most important document for getting family pension.
5. Pensioners are requested to update following with their Banks.
*Mobile Number
*Email address
*PAN card
*Aadhar Card
6. If you are already getting pension through SPARSH, then communicate your SPARSH user id and Password to your Spouse.
7. Name of Disabled/ Dependent Child if not updated or endorsed, should be done immediately with your Record Office.
8. *LIFE CERTIFICATION* Life certification has to be completed once a year on time. Failing to do so will lead to Stoppage of Pension.
At NAVPEN, we encounter many cases where lack of timely action has resulted in agony to family pensioners later.
*A stitch in time saves nine.*
Best wishes.
Stay safe.
Regards
Team NAVPEN
