ECHS patients are entitled to travel expenses: Ruling Letter 

ECHS  provided several additional benefits to beneficiaries related to TA. If an ECHS beneficiary receives treatment in another city, travel expenses are allowed for treatment travel (in both directions).

TRAVELING ALLOWANCE

1.      Ref Minutes of OsIC ECHS Polyclinics conference held on 02 Apr 2024 and Stn HQ Cell Danapur Cantt letter No 163552Nis & Conf/ECHS/2/A dated 25 Apr 2024.

2.      Traveling allowance of the following procedure will govern the movement of patient to referred clinics as per para 106 of SOP for online bill processing: –

(a) Traveling allowance for journeys undertaken for medical treatment (both ways) is admissible to ECHS beneficiaries for treatment in another city, if such treatment is not available in the same city and referral is advised by ECHS Medical Office/Specialist. Amount admissible will be limited to rail fare in entitled classes as applicable at the time  of retirement, by shortest/main route or actual expenditure, whichever is less.

(b) One attendant or escort who is required to travel alongwith the patient will also be entitled to travelling allowance if the medical Officer attending the patient certificate in writing that is unsafe for the patient to travel alone and such attendant escort is necessary to accompany the patient. Amount as admissible to the patient is reimbursable,

(c) The claim for reimbursement of traveling expenses will be submitted to the Officer-in-Charge Polyclinic with the following documents: –
