OROP-3 approved by the government: Letters sent to all Concernend
Finally, OROP-3 with some instructions to redetermine pensions of veterans from July 1, 2024, was approved by the government. On July 10, letters were sent to all the Chiefs of Service and PCDAs (P) of the three branches of the Indian Army, requesting them to take necessary steps to reassess pensions of ex-servicemen and family pensioners as per the pension assessment methodology prescribed in the OROP program in 2015.
Furthermore, a PIB notification was released on July 26 to clarify the questions raised in the Lok Sabha regarding the government approving OROP and arrears being paid within the financial year. It is expected that in 2023, the monthly pension amount will be increased according to the average (highest and lowest) of pension amounts received by the same rank and years of service.
