Big relief for central government employees, Modi government issues clarification on pension, says daughters' names can now...
As per the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), every government employee or pensioner must provide details of all their family members.
In a major development, the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) has made it clear that a daughter's name will not be removed from the family pension list. The clarification comes in response to several complaints where daughters' names were reportedly being deleted from the family records after the employee's retirement.
As per the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW), every government employee or pensioner must provide details of all their family members. The department clarified: "As soon as the name of a daughter is informed in the prescribed format (proforma) as a family member by a government servant, she shall be treated as a member of the family. Therefore, the daughter's name shall not be deleted from the list of family members. The eligibility for family pension will be determined after the death of the pensioner or family pensioner, as per the rules."
Here are some of the key details:
- This provision falls under Rule 50(15) of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021 [CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021].
- As soon as a person joins government service, they are required to provide details of all family members
- The information includes names of the spouse, children, parents, and disabled siblings regardless of whether they are eligible for family pension.
- If the name of any family member of a deceased government employee is not available in Form 4 or in office records
- The family pension claim of that member shall not be rejected, provided the office confirms that the member is eligible as per the rules.
