How to safely reduce creatinine levels without medication

How to safely reduce creatinine levels without medication

Creatinine is a natural byproduct of muscle activity, released into the bloodstream as we move and stay active. Under normal circumstances, healthy kidneys efficiently filter it out, keeping levels balanced. However, elevated creatinine can signal that the kidneys are under stress and may not be functioning optimally. The good news is that there are gentle, natural strategies to help lower creatinine levels and support kidney health, without relying on medications or invasive treatments. Take a look

A very important part of this process is, of course, paying attention to what one eats. Foods have a great impact on the function and operation of the kidneys. Reducing the intake of red meat and other animal proteins reduces the strain on kidneys. Adding plant-based proteins, in the form of lentils, beans, and tofu, helps in meeting nutrition needs without raising creatinine production. Increasing your fruit and vegetables intake greatly helps boost your kidney function, too. Fresh fruits like apples, berries, pomegranate, and vegetables such as cucumber, carrots, and spinach contain a high amount of water and antioxidants that naturally clean the body

A research published inNational Institute of Health, conducted a survey on African American adults with elevated urine abumin-creatinine ratio, and did a six month fruits and vegetables program with our without cooking instructions. Among 142 participants, those who ate fruits and veggies had a 31 percent reduction in the creatinine ratio. Overall, evidence shows that regular intake of fruits and vegetables turns out to be beneficial for kidney health, especially to lower creatinine levels in the body.

Another factor that contributes to proper health is hydration. When there is plenty of water intake, toxins, including creatinine are flushed out of the body. But this too needs a certain balance: too little water increases the creatinine levels, while too much can be detrimental in case one's kidneys are already under threat. Herbal teas like those from chamomile flowers or green tea, even nettle leaf, might slightly increase diuresis and enhance relaxation, benefiting the kidneys. A study published in TheJournal of Nephrology found that drinking nettle tea significantly lowered serum creatinine and increased GFR after just two months, with improvements continuing throughout the six months. The researchers suggest that these benefits may be due to nettle's antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.
