According to an EPFO social media post: “Pensioners can now submit their digital life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) easily through face authentication, no need to visit banks or offices. Follow these simple steps and complete it from your smartphone.”

Senior citizen pensioners between the ages of 60 and 80 can submit their life certificates till November 30, 2025, to continue receiving their pension without any delay. Life certificates can be submitted online from anywhere or offline by visiting a bank or a Common Service Centre.

What is Jeevan Pramaan Patra?
A Jeevan Pramaan Patra is a biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based digital life certificate for pensioners. Jeevan Pramaan Patra, i.e, DLC, an individual pensioner can generate a life certificate using his/her Aadhaar number and biometrics.

6 simple steps to submit digital life certificate using face authentication

Step 1:

Use any Android smartphone with a 5 MP front camera and internet connection.

Step 2:

Keep your Aadhaar number registered with the Pension Disbursing Authority (bank, post office, or other authority) ready.

Step 3:

Download and install the ‘AadhaarFaceRD’ app and the ‘Jeevan Pramaan Face App’ from Google Play Store.

Step 4:

Complete operator authentication and scan the face of the operator.

(The pensioner can act as the operator.)

Step 5:

Enter pensioner details in the app.

Step 6:

Capture a clear photograph using the smartphone’s front camera and submit.

An SMS with a link to download Jeevan Pramaan will be sent to the mobile number.
What information is required to be provided by a pensioner to generate the Jeevan Pramaan Patra?
A pensioner has to provide their Aadhaar number, name, mobile number and self-declared pension-related information like the PPO number, the pension account number, bank details, the name of the pension sanctioning authority, the pension disbursing authority, etc. The pensioner has to also provide his/her biometrics- either the iris or the finger print.

Note: Incorrect information may lead to the rejection of DLC by authorities.



Is the Pramaan ID/Jeevan Pramaan, i.e, DLC valid for life?
The Pramaan ID/Jeevan Pramaan is not valid for life. The validity period of the certificate is as per rules specified by the Pension Sanctioning Authority. Once the validity period is over, a new Jeevan Pramaan Certificate, i.e, a new Pramaan ID needs

Is a digital life certificate valid?

Yes, a digital life certificate is a valid document and recognised under the IT Act. The system benefits the pensioner from having to go before the Pension Disbursing Authority to prove that they are alive.
