What is CSD Car Entitlement?
CSD car entitlement allows serving and retired Armed Forces personnel, including widows/Next of Kin (NoK), to purchase cars at concessional rates through the CSD network.
CSD Car Entitlement as per Pay Level
1. Pay Level 3 to 5 (PBOR – Lower Ranks)
- Maximum Car Cost: ₹8 lakh (excluding taxes)
- Eligibility:
- Total 4 cars in a lifetime
- First car after 5 years of service
- Gap: Minimum 8 years between two purchases
- For Widows/NoK:
- Can purchase if quota unused
- Not eligible if full quota already utilized
2. Pay Level 6 to 9 (JCOs / Equivalent)
- Eligibility:
- Total 5 cars in a lifetime
- First purchase after 5 years of service
- Gap: 8 years between purchases
- Widows/NoK Rule: Same as above
3. Pay Level 10 to 18 (Officers)
- Maximum Car Cost: ₹20 lakh (excluding taxes)
- Eligibility:
- One car every 8 years
- No lifetime cap mentioned like lower ranks
4. Defence Civilians (Pay Level 10–18)
- Maximum Car Cost: ₹20 lakh (excluding taxes)
- Eligibility:
- One car every 8 years
- Applicable to family pensioners as well
1. Price Limit is Ex-Showroom
2. 8-Year Gap Rule
A mandatory 8-year gap must be maintained between two car purchases.
3. First Purchase Condition
For lower ranks and JCOs, the first car can be purchased only after 5 years of service.
- PBOR: 4 cars
- JCO: 5 cars
- Officers: No strict lifetime cap, but periodicity applies
5. Widow / NoK Benefit
Widows can utilize the entitlement only if the deceased personnel has not exhausted the quota.
Eligible cars depend on your entitlement value:
- Up to ₹8 lakh: Entry-level cars (Alto, WagonR, etc.)
- Up to ₹10 lakh: Hatchbacks & compact sedans/SUVs
- Up to ₹20 lakh: Mid-size SUVs, sedans
- CSD Smart Card
- PAN Card & Aadhaar
- Service Certificate / Discharge Book
- Availability Certificate from dealer
- Loan documents (if applicable)
