BSF celebrates Diwali mela



SILCHAR: A diwali mela was organised by theBorder Security Force (BSF) of Mizoram and Cachar frontier at its headquarters in Mashimpur in association with BSF sector Hq Silchar on Wednesday. 136 Masimpur battalion, 63 Dholchera battalion and 115 Karimganj battalion along with other BSF officers of various ranks and their families participated in the mela. Local civilians also took keen interest in the mela.
M L Batham, IG, BSF Frontier Hq Mizoram and Cachar was the chief guest of the mela.
The stalls established by the BSF sold sweets, fast food, clothes, cosmetics etc, serving both personnel and civilians. A cultural programme, musical chair for the wives of BSF officers, tambola, jalebi and obstacle race for children, tug of war, needle and thread race for BSF couples etc were also organized by the BSF personnel. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the events by the chief guest.
In the closing address of the mela, the chief guest M L Batham, IG thanked everyone for organizing such a grand mela and wished that Diwali may bring happiness and prosperity for all the BSF personnel, their families and the local civilians.
He also conveyed diwali wishes to those BSF jawans who are performing round the clock duties on the international border for effective area domination.
